Small Hummingbird of Nazca
Not a very beautiful shot, but quite relevant if you’re interested in the enigmatic Nazca Lines of Peru and my favourite of the collection. Nobody really knows why these massive designs were created in pre-Inca times – the white lines are actually raised stones, as opposed to trenches and to give you an idea of scale, those are hills of several hundred feet on the lower right. How the early people could see to design their creations without flight to view them is a mystery! There are several sets of lines and they are quite a few miles apart so we went up in a 4-seater Cessna to take a look! Seeing these was definitely a mind-blowing experience and if you get to go to Peru, try to fit a flight over here into your intenerary! :o)
